Mrs. Ida Mae Taylor Parker

Mrs. Ida Mae Taylor Parker, age 97 of Mt. Airy, widow of Jasper Daniel Parker, went home to be with Jesus at the Woltz Hospice Home on Friday November 2, 2012. Mrs. Parker was born July 4, 1915 to Phillip and Mary Mallie Hutchens Taylor. Mrs. Parker was a cherished mother and grandmother, and was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law; Nannie and Ervin Boyd of Mt. Airy, Gladys Boyles of Cana, VA, and Faye and Lonnie Maines of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Cheryl Ayers and husband Keith, Judy Leftwich and husband Dennis, Amy Haynes, Donna Shelton and husband Thomas, Tammy Parker, Lonnie Maines, Jr.; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her special friend, Lorene Branch. Mrs. Parker dearly loved Rev. Dwight and Teresa Sechrist, her pastor and wife. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by three sons; Billy Gray Parker, Curtis Ray Parker, and infant Jasper Parker; a grandson; Dean Parker; a great grandson; D.J. Leftwich; sisters, Mary Canter, and Elsie Danley; brother, Lester Taylor; and a son-in-law, Jerry Boyles. Funeral services will be held Sunday November 4, 2012 at 2PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Interment will follow in Hutchens-Venable Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fancy Gap Baptist Church on Saturday night from 6 until 8PM and at other times at the home of her daughter, Gladys Boyles, 275 Lanecrest Dr., Cana, VA 24317. Flowers will be accepted. The family wants to say a special thank you to Shelly Lowe and to the rest of the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
