Mrs. Inez Gammons Smith

Mrs. Inez Gammons Smith, age 83 of Mt. Airy passed away at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Mrs. Smith was born in Surry County on July 7, 1929 to the late Thomas and Lettie Susie Hicks Gammons. She retired from Proctor Silex and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Watt Staples of Raleigh and Susie and Jeff Gilley of Eden, four grandchildren, Cassie Staples, Josh Staples both of Raleigh, Alan Gilley of Eden and Jason Asbill of Reidsville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dennis and Jessie Gammons, and Wayne Gammons all of Mt. Airy; a very special caregiver, Ms. Connie Matthews of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Larry Smith. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday October 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Stewart Roten officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is assisting the Smith Family.
