Mrs. Irene Cobler Collins, age 98 of Burlington, formerly of Mt. Airy passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at White Oak Manor in Burlington. Mrs. Collins was born in Surry County on October 25, 1912 to the late William Yancy and Laura Noah Cobler. She was a home maker and a member of Community Methodist Church in Raeford. Mrs. Collins is survived by four daughters, Opal Gregory and Art of Dallas, GA, Laura Collins of Sanford, NC, Betty and James Barefoot of Raeford, NC and Nancy and Tom Cox of Knoxville, IA; son, James W. Collins of Graham, NC; twenty grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; twenty-two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Chittum of East Bend, Rosie Salmon of Winston Salem and Dolly Bonds of Mocksville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton H. Collins; a son, and daughter-in-law, Clinton H. Collins, Jr. and Rose Collins and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Loman with burial to follow in the Cobler Family Cemetery in Westfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
