Mrs. Irene Thomas Bowman Newman

Mrs. Irene Thomas Bowman Newman, 86, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Danville, VA. Mrs. Newman had been a resident of Roman Eagle since 2007. She was born May 19, 1930, in Cana, VA, to the late Alfred Lee Thomas and Zelma Tobler Thomas. She was predeceased by her husbands, Garner Franklin Bowman and William H. Newman; and a son, Donald Franklin Bowman. She is survived by her sister, June Bowman of Ararat, VA; her brother, Jessie Thomas and his wife, Annabel, of Tacoma, WA; and her brother, Lewis Thomas of Stuart, VA. She is also survived by her children, Kenneth Lee Bowman and his wife, Brenda, of Dry Fork, VA, Anita Story and her husband, Kippy, of Chester, VA, Janeen Frazier and her husband, Mike, of Dobson, and Albert Blankenship, Jr. of New Kent, VA; a daughter-in-law, Marian Bowman of Marion, VA; eight grandchildren, Kristina Lang Rousch and Mike of Chesterfield, VA, Ronnie Lang and his wife, Paula, of Chesterfield, VA, Drew Puckett and his wife, Nicole, of Stafford, VA, Michael Puckett and his wife, Eva of Norfolk, VA, Lindsay Puckett Parks and her husband, Terry, of Mount Airy, David Bowman and his wife, Jennifer, of Chesterfield, VA, Brian Bowman and his wife, Brandi, of Atkins, VA, and Lindsay Leigh Bowman of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral home in Mount Airy, with a funeral service to follow at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery in Cana, VA.
