Mrs. Irene Lawson Overby

Mrs. Irene Lawson Overby, age 85 of Stuart passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on Oct. 15, 1928 to the late Dave and Hattie Mae Clifton Lawson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Overby; a son, Paul T. Overby; four sisters, Annice Jeffers, Nettie Lawson, Jettie Hughes, Hazel Holt; and three brothers, Vance, Malcolm, and Leonard Lawson. Mrs. Overby attended Daystar Ministries. She loved spending time with her family and loved to fish.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice and Frank Manning of Bassett; two sons, Kenneth and Susan Overby of Stuart, Curtis Overby and Josie Toscano of Forrest; four grandchildren, Tammy Rakes and husband, Louis, Jr., Brian Overby Blanchfield, Lisa O. Sholes, Michael P. Overby; four great grandchildren, Kayla Rakes-Jones, Savannah Rakes, Rachael L. Rakes, Skyler Wood; two great great grandchildren, Jru A. Jones, Sydney N. Corns; and one sister, Margaret P. Hill of Martinsville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Sammy Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens.
