Mrs. Iris Miller Gardner

Mrs. Myrtle Iris Miller Gardner, age 79 of Mt. Airy, went to be in the more immediate presence of the Lord on March 30, 2013. Mrs. Gardner was born in Surry County on May 18, 1933 to Julius Jefferson and Addie Elizabeth Tolbert Miller. She was a retired teacher, having taught at North Surry High School, was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Grace Moravian Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Jeff Holt of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Holt Simpson, John Julius Holt and Martha Iris Holt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Gardner and a brother Frank Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tony Hayworth. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iris Gardner Memorial Scholarship Fund at North Surry High School, 2440 W. Pine St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
