Mrs. Isabel Scott Golding

Mrs. Isabel Scott Golding, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2016, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Golding was born February 7, 1936, in Patrick County, VA, one of seven children born to the late Roby and Roxie Hall Scott. Isabel retired as a registered nurse from Northern Hospital of Surry County after 32 years of service and was a longtime member and Worthy Matron of Mount Airy Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered as a selfless wife, mother and friend whose contribution to the community will not go unnoticed. Her strong will, along with her devotion and love for others, will be dearly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Senator Golding of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ellery and Beverly Golding of Dobson; two granddaughters, Tiffany Golding and Leigh Ann Davis; three great-grandchildren, Amelia McLean, Taelyn Davis, and Laekyn Davis; a sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Bobby Martin of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Golding was preceded in death by three sisters, Mettie Gwyn, Emma Scott, and Lila Comer; and two brothers, Leonard Scott and Gilbert Scott. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Donald Ray Thomas, Jr. and Tiffany Golding officiating and rites conducted by Mount Airy Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star with burial to follow in Oakdale cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
