Mrs. Jacqueline Tate Akers, age 67 of Cana, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Akers was born in Carroll County on April 27, 1945 to Lee William and Mary Lou Tate. She was a loving mother and sister who will be dearly missed. Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie Akers of the home; Lisa and David Hawks of Cana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Sammy Ashburn of Ararat, NC; Shelby and Clyde Phillips; Mable and Clarence Hawks all of Cana; Gracie and Bob Goad and Imogene and Jerry Dalton all of Fancy Gap; and brothers, Vestal and Debbie Tate of Denton, NC and Junior and Mable Tate of Cana and special friends Elsie Jones, Verlon and Hazel Combs, Mary Hill and Curtis Austin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Akers was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Everett Akers and sons, James Akers, Ronnie Akers and Terry Akers. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Akers Family Cemetery by Rev. Albert Everidge and Rev. Richard Hawks. The family will visit after the service and at other times at the home of Mable and Clarence Hawks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moody Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
