Mrs. Janet Karen Allen

Mrs. Janet Karen Allen, age 62 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Allen was born in Surry County on January 2, 1951 to Clint Jack and Mildred Mozelle Edwards Willis. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to so many. Mrs. Allen was retired from Surry County Communications where she dispatched for both county and city entities. Karen always maintained complete control of any situation she was given and was always trusted to get and give lifesaving information to those in need. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Dale Burkhart of Mt. Airy; April and Ricky Willard of Ararat, VA; grandchildren, Ashley Willard, Cody Willard, Tessa Allen, Brian Allen and Matthew Allen and Mason Burkhart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica and Mike Eaton of Claudville, VA; Gina and Greg Wilhelm of Salisbury; a brother, Kenny Willis of Ararat, VA and a very special friend, Sylvia Boyles. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis "Denny" Allen; a son, Todd Allen; a granddaughter, Haley Allen and a brother Dale Willis. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home by Chaplain Justin Nelson. Burial will follow in Flat Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thanks to Courtney Willard and Doris Davis.
