Mrs. Jessie Mae Merriman Puckett

Mrs. Jessie Mae Merriman Puckett, age 71 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Henry County on May 8, 1940 to the late Jesse F. and Margaret Jones Merriman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Puckett; one step-great-granddaughter, Clarie Taylor; three sisters, Margaret Norman, Mary Elizabeth Cecil and Elsie Holcomb; and one brother, John Merriman. She was a member of Stella Christian Church, and had been co-owner of Family Foods, Inc. for 24 years.
Mrs. Puckett is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, R. Leon and Carmen Nichols Puckett of Stuart; two grandchildren, Candice Fulcher, and husband, Eric, Kyle Puckett and wife, Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Lauren Fulcher; four step-grandchildren, Danielle Puckett, Brandon Taylor, Andrew Taylor and Gary Taylor; six step-great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Xavien Taylor, Brianna and Kaitlyn Puckett, and A. Broc and Maddox Taylor; and one sister, Becky Luke of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Funeral services for Mrs. Puckett will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Stella Christian Church with Rev. Steve Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
