Mrs. Jewel Freeman White, age 93, of Dobson, NC, passed away on Sunday evening April 8, 2018 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by family. She was born in Surry Co. on March 13, 1925 to the late Richard and Matilda Callahan Freeman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Junior Dillard White in 2012, sisters, Geneva Johnson, Hazel Shew and two infant sisters; brothers, Walter, Paul, and Clarence Freeman; son-in-law, Ted Harper; and a step-great-grandchild, Alexander Aarons. She was a homemaker and a farmer. She loved cooking and enjoyed company to share in her delicious home cooking. She was the oldest living member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Franklin (Bob) and Irene White of Dobson; her daughter, Patty Sue Harper of Clemmons, grandchildren, Dana Wetterauer of Ganserndorf, Austria, Kevin Calhoun and wife Mackenzie of Winston-Salem, Brad Calhoun and wife Anna of Winston-Salem; step-grandchildren, Christine Parker and husband Jerry of Mount Airy, Angela Aarons and husband Jason of Fernandina Beach, Florida; seven great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Cave of Dobson and Mary Lou Shoemake of Dobson; one special caring niece, Peggy Shew of Dobson and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Central View Missionary Baptist Church in Dobson with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Rick Jackson will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. and at other times at Jewel's Home on Barefoot Trail, Dobson, NC. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care, the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Central View Missionary Baptist Church, and the many friends, family and neighbors for their every act of kindness, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Central View Missionary Baptist Church, 1088 White Dirt Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
