Mrs. Joanna Mae Hunt

Mrs. Joanna Mae Hunt, age 90 of Cotton Mill Apartments, Stuart, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on February 15, 1918 to the late James "Wythe" and Emma Jane Edwards Clark. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, James William Hunt; three sons, Bobby Hylton, Steve Hylton and James Bervie Hylton; four brothers, Zandy, Wythe, George and Tommy Clark; and three sisters, Blanche Clark, Geneva Tatum and Audrey Thomas. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and was retired from the Blue Ridge Nursing Center.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by four daughters, Shirley Hunt of Stuart, Janie Holmes of Martinsville; Virginia Carlene Floyd of Columbus, Ohio and Willie Mae Phillips of Greensboro, North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hunt will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Robert Hairston officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. A wake will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home, and visitors will be received at other times at the home of her daughter, Janie Holmes, 1789 Chestnut Knob Road, Martinsville.
