Mrs. Joyce Patrick Smith

Mrs. Joyce Patrick Smith, age 72 of Ferrum, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at her home. She was born in Rossville, Georgia to the late James Roy and Pauline Holliman Patrick. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three children, Patricia Hope Smith, Jeffery Patrick Smith and Timothy Patrick Smith; and one brother, James Roy Patrick. She was a member of Stuart Baptist Church, and had been the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of North Carolina State University Graduate School. She received her Bachelor's degree from Carson-Newman University in 1957, and her Master's Degree from North Carolina State University in 1986.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, John William "Bill" Smith of the home; three sons, William Anthony "Tony" Smith, and his wife, Phu, John Mark Smith, and his wife, Rebecca, and James Arnold Smith, all of Knightdale, North Carolina; one grandson, Alex Smith; and one half sister, Alice Webb of Fort Orglethorpe, Georgia.
A graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Woolwine Cemetery with Dr. Clint Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
