Mrs. Juanita Burcham "Geri" Monroe

Mrs. Juanita Burcham "Geri" Monroe, age 68 Galax, VA, passed away Sunday September 2, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Monroe was born May 25, 1944 in Surry County to the late Charlie Thomas and Pearl Patterson Burcham. Mrs. Monroe was retired from Southeast Virginia Training Center in Hillsville, VA, and was as member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. Surviving is her husband of forty seven years, James A. Monroe of the home, sister and brother in law, Bertha B. and Cody Jones of Salem, VA., two brothers Clyde A. and Dorothy Burcham of Radford, VA. and, Phillip Ray and Shirley Burcham of Pulaski, VA; special friends and neighbors, Diann Hawks, of Galax, VA, Rachel Lundy and her son, Andrew of Galax, VA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Edith B. and Rudy Edwards. A graveside service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy with Mr. Wilburn Rives officiating. The Monroe family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy on Wednesday from 12 noon until the hour of the graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to be made to the Flat Rock Presbyterian Church PO Box 884 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
