Mrs. Judith Rebecca Childress

Mrs. Judith Rebecca Gardner Childress 77, of Mt, Airy, passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born December 24, 1939 to the late Roger Boston and Mary Evelyn Badget Gardner. Mrs. Childress was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was raising her children. Left to cherish her memories are her husband; Alton Grey Childress Sr. of the home, three daughters and a son-in-law; Rebecca Lewis, Dana Childress, Breanne and Sidney Watson, a son; Alton Childress Jr. and fiancé Jill Kirk, three grandchildren; Alisha Childress, Toni Smith and Casey (Dustin) Brown, three great-grandchildren; Parker Watson, Presley Brown, Holland Smith a sister; Martha Hall, as well as two brothers and sisters-in-law; Johnny and Roxanne Gardner, Wayne and Margaret Franklin, an aunt; Lillian Kirkman. In addition to her parents Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by a brother Jack Gardner. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 1, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Wayburn Mosley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
