Mrs. Judy Bowman Angel

Mrs. Judy Myrtle Bowman Angel, age 83 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Angel was born in Patrick County on September 28, 1930 to Pet Rangeley and Gertha Collins Bowman. She taught school in several one rooms schools in Virginia including Critz and Woolwine areas. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting. Mrs. Angel was retried from Surry County Health Dept. and was a member of Church of Christ in Dry Pond. Mrs. Angel will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roger Jackson of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Julie Angel also of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Amelia Jackson, Megan Angel, Emily Angel, Kayla A. Miller and husband Camron, Dale Jackson, Jr. and Justin Angel; one great grandson, Rolyn Miller; a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Alvis Joyce of Critz, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Coolidge and Mary Sue Bowman of Ararat, VA; a special friend and caregiver, Renee McCreary and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Angel was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Angel; a son, Brian Angel and a brother, Clayton Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. James Percival and Mr. Aaron Blackard. Burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 and other times at Thomas Angel's home. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the very caring staff at Central Continuing Care for the wonderful love and care given to Mrs. Angel and a special thanks to Barbara Freeman, Jean Harold and Teresa Stanley Slate of American Healthcare.
