Mrs. Judy Faye Butcher Whitaker

Mrs. Judy Faye Butcher Whitaker, 69, of Mt. Airy passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Saturday, February 3, 2018. She was a kind, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She retired from Renfro and was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Surry County February 6, 1948 to the late Oscar Woodrow Butcher and Rosie Ann Berrier Butcher Creed. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Darren Bowman, Annette and Clayton Bowman and Melonie and Tim Haynes; grandchildren, Justin Haynes, Austin Haynes and wife Crystal, and Daniel Bowman; and honorary grandchildren, Brittany Brady and Jason Collins; great-grandchildren, Ally Bowman, Kaylee Branch, Riley Hawks, Arabella Haynes, and Cooper Haynes; honorary great grandchildren, Raleigh and Colton; sisters and brother-in-law, Jettie Wilmoth, and Janie and Frank Sechrist; two nieces and two nephews, special friends, Betty Gwyn, Sandra Whitaker, Donnie Tate and Robert Whitaker; and a loving furry friend, guardian and protector “Sam”. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Haywood Whitaker; an infant sister; step-father, Papa Sam Creed; and a brother-in-law, Joe Wilmoth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 5, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy, conducted by Rev. Butch Holder and Roberta Whitaker. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday.
