Mrs. Julia Estelle Lockaby Atkins

Mrs. Julia Estelle Lockaby Atkins, age 92 of King, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Village Care of King. Mrs. Atkins was born in Henderson County on January 10, 1921 to William Oscar and Gertrude Beck Lockaby. She was retried from Hanes Hosiery and was a member of King First Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Julia A. and Ronald E. Lawson of King; a sister, Eva Gordon; a brother-in-law, Check Atkins; sisters-in-law, Pansy Allen and Faye Edwards and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Atkins; sisters, Mamie Goins and Irene Lockaby; a brother, William C. Lockaby and brothers-in-law, Tom Gordon and Alvis Goins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at King First Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Evans. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night at Moody Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00.
