Mrs. June Ann Sigmon, age 80 of Danville, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Patrick County on February 19, 1937 to the late James A. Light and Pearl Boyd Light. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sigmon was preceded in death by her first husband, Coy Howell; her second husband, Percy Sigmon; two daughters, Barbara Gail Howell, Patricia Howell; one son, Gary Howell; two brothers, Clyde Light and Hill Light; and four sisters, Jean Sarver, Jewell Alderman, Beulah Rigney and Lillian Belcher. She was a loving wife, mother, and granny. She loved her family and church, loved to cook, and put everyone else’s needs before her own.
Mrs. Sigmon is survived by two granddaughters, Nikki Howell and Jamie Webb, both of Danville; five great-grandchildren, James Jefferies, Jr., Devan Cook, Nevaeh Webb, Alexia Webb and Madison Stevens; one brother, Albert Light of Winchester; two sisters, Lola Manning of Roanoke and Lois Sutton of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Chris Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hooker Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to First Church of the Living God, 785 Edmonds Street, Danville, Virginia 24541.
