Mrs. Karen Susan (Susie) Ayers age 55, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 22, 1962 to the late Thurmand Cecil and Mary Constance Mozingo Collins. Mrs. Ayers was a graduate of Surry Community College where she received a degree in Nursing. She had a passion for this career and everyone who knew her, knew that she was more than just a nurse. She always went above and beyond her role as a nurse treating all of her patients with love and compassion. Left to cherish her memories are a daughter; Nicki Ayers and her fiancé Chase Moorefield; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Astrid Ayers; three grandchildren, Emma Moorefield, Pierce C. Ayers, Noah Ayers; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Robbie and Rodney Harris, Sandra Leftwich; three nephews, Brad Harrell, Kenny Clarke, Wesley Harris; her beloved dog, Charlie as well as her second family “The Funkys”. In addition to her parents Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Mozingo. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by Rev. Dennis Arrington and Rev. Ben Webb. Burial will follow at the Peoples Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home.
