Mrs. Karen Sue Woodard Goins

Mrs. Karen Sue Woodard Goins, 61, of Mt. Airy passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home May 17, 2016. She was born in Lafallette, TN on July 3, 1954 to the late Anvil and Bertha McCully Woodard and grew up and lived in Cleveland, OH. Mrs. Goins was employed with Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care until cancer did not allow her to work any longer. Prior to working with Hospice she worked with Golden Living Nursing Home and prior that she was employed with Proctor Silex. Mrs. Goins is survived by her husband, Richard W. Goins, Sr., their first date was on Halloween of 1975 and they were married on Halloween of 1977. Their children, Jack Knight and fiancée, Gloria Peck, Crystal Chaney and husband Chris, Rick Goins and wife, Michelle; a granddaughter, Lakin B. Knight; sister, Kathy Owens and husband, Dave; nephews, Jeremy Owns and wife, Cynthia, Kevin Owens and wife, Danielle and Alex Owens; many other extended family members; a life-long friend, Mary C. Bellman and Dorcus Shuff a special friend and co-worker and many other special friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Shuff officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
