Mrs. Karen Lee Koehl

Mrs. Karen Lee Koehl, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016, at her residence. She was born August 20, 1944, in Santa Ana, CA, to the late Howard M. and Erma M. Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin E. Koehl; two sons, Ricky Koehl and David Koehl; and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Smith of Mount Airy and Sheila Kay and Richard Castillo of Indiana; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Betty Koehl of the home and Billy Koehl of Dobson; a brother, Robert Thompson of Washington State; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her caretakers, Brandy Canterbery and Mrs. Sandra. She was a devoted homemaker and mother and was of the Baptist faith. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM in Dobson City Cemetery, with Pastor Bobby Bullins, officiating. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and American Health Care for their kindness and support.
