Mrs. Karen Lynne Gunter Walker

Stuart resident, Karen Lynne Gunter Walker, 58, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, January 12, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, N.C.
Karen was born on May 11th, 1959, in Stuart, Virginia to “Junior” (Harbey) Gunter and Annie Varner Gunter. Karen is survived by her husband of 26 years, Steve Walker, her Mom, Dad, and many dear friends, including Cindy Gravely, and Tammy, Tommy, Aaron, & Makenzie Davis. Karen was preceded in death by her daughter Katie Walker.
She graduated from Patrick County High School in 1977. For 17 years Karen worked as the Executive Assistant to Eric Monday, who for 15 of those years has been the City Attorney for Martinsville, Virginia. Karen and her friend Tammy Davis began a card ministry in 2012, and created countless handmade cards of encouragement. Each card was made personally with love and prayer, and then delivered to people who were sick, hurting, and in need of a reminder of God’s love. Karen was also an animal lover, with a special love for her cats. She enjoyed traveling, stays at the beach, working with the Stampin’ Up Sisters Club, singing at almost any time, and working on the flowers in her garden.
Karen was also an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Stuart, VA, where she served in several ministries, including helping to lead Sunday worship services and co-organizing the first Women’s Conference in 2015. Karen was a bright light everywhere she went, and she shared the love of Jesus with everyone she met.
There will be a visitation at Moody’s Funeral Home in Stuart, VA on Monday, January,15, 2-18 at 6:00pm at 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Stuart, VA on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00pm. An interment service will follow the memorial service at Bouldin Memorial Cemetery, followed by a Fellowship Meal at Grace Baptist Church.
