Mrs. Kathleen Sophia Cheape

Miss Kathleen Sophia “Kitty” Cheape, age 91, of Meadows of Dan, passed away March 9, 2017. Kitty was born in Greensboro, Alabama on Nov. 6, 1925 to the late Dudley Willis Cheape and Julia Tutwiler Cheape. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Cheape Lindsay; and two brothers, Dudley W. Cheape, Jr., and John Henry Cheape. Kitty received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the UNC-Chapel Hill. She was an Assistant Law Librarian for UNC Chapel Hill for over 20 years and was a published author. She was very well traveled and was baptized in the Jordan River. She loved animals and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Surviving are five nieces and nephews, Edselle Lindsay of Chapel Hill, NC, Eric Lindsay of Indianapolis, IN, John Lindsay of Patrick Springs, John Cheape of Augusta, GA, Julia Wood of Opelika, AL; a sister-in-law, Melba Cheape of Augusta, GA many special cousins; many great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Deborah Quesinberry of Meadows of Dan, VA and Bonnie Goad of Laurel Fork, VA.
A memorial service will be held Sat. March 18, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
