Kay Henshaw Minor, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at her residence. Mrs. Minor was born September 1, 1940, to the late Kenneth Clifton Henshaw and the late Willie Fay Baldock in Kingsport, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Minor and a son, David Duane Snodgrass. A lifelong resident of Kingsport, Kay moved to Parkwood Place in Elkin, NC a year and a half ago to be near her family. She quickly made friends and became a member of Salem Fork Baptist Church. Kay attended the University of Tennessee, was employed with State Farm Insurance Company for 27 years and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Kay had a joyful heart and loved abundantly. She followed Jesus Christ all her days and our sorrows are eased by knowing she is at peace in heaven. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Brad Jones of Greensboro; grandchildren, Griffin and Lorie Jones, Parker and Maggie Jones, Emily and Preston Cave, Maci Snodgrass, and Ellie Snodgrass; great-grandchildren Emerson Jones and Elouise Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Martha-Lynn Henshaw; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on February 17th at 3:00 pm at Salem Fork Baptist Church, with Rev. Sean Joplin, officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. A graveside service and burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Kingsport, TN on February 19th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Salem Fork Baptist Church, 555 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, NC 28621 or Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 929 Maple Street, Kingsport, TN 37660. The family is being served by Moody-Davis Funeral Service in NC and Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in TN.
