Mrs. Lala Mae Draughn Burge

Mrs. Lala Mae Draughn Burge, 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Surry County on March 18, 1933 to the late Henry and Ella Eads Draughn. Mrs. Burge was a homemaker and a faithful member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Burge is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wally Burge and Alma of Kinston, Juan Burge and Susan of Greensboro; grandchildren, Vanessa Soffe and husband Dixon of Fayetteville, Camden Burge, of Greenville, Hanna Burge of Greensboro; one great grandchild, Ava Tovar Soffe. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burge was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Camden “Cam” Burge. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis “Bud” Cameron officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Franklin Heights Methodist Church, 423 S. Franklin Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
