Mrs. Laura Rachel Spencer Harvey

Mrs. Laura Rachel Spencer Harvey, age 95, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Golden Living Nursing Center. Mrs. Harvey was born in Surry County on April 13, 1920 to Joe and Annie Inman Spencer. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Dianne Harvey, and James Harvey; grandchildren, Rebeccah Beverly and husband Kevin, Noel cook and husband Darrell, Mitzy Johnson; Jeff Harvey and wife Jennie, Steven King and wife Kim and David Harvey and fiancée Linda Graham; ten great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Wilma Sutpin and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband, James Virgil Harvey; a daughter, Patricia Ann King; a sister, Hazel Barlow and a daughter-in-law, Iris Harvey. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 1, 2016 at Skyline Memory Gardens by Rev. Jon Cawley. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home beginning at 9:30. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Easter Seals Society at P.O. Box 28239, Raleigh, NC 27611 or to the charity of the donors’ choice. The family would like to express a very special thanks to Golden Living Nursing Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Mrs. Harvey.
