Mrs. Lela Jane Cummings Wright

Mrs. Lela Jane Cummings Wright, age 99 of Independence, Virginia passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. She was born in Jonesville, North Carolina to the late Pleas Monroe Cummings and Etta Blackburn Cummings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Allen Wright; three brothers, Raymond Cummings, Harvey Cummings, and Harold Cummings; and a sister, Daphne Cummings. Lela had been a dedicated member of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, known as the D.A.R. She loved flowers of all types and varieties.

Mrs. Wright is survived by a brother, Gayle E. Cummings (Nancy) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law; Grayson Wright (Joyce) of Blacksburg, Virginia and Randolph Wright of Galax, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wright will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Gloria Rhudy officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
