Mrs. Lelia Goard East

Mrs. Lelia Goard East, age 86 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on June 22, 1922 to the late Dennis and Pearl Goad Goard. In addition to her parents, Mrs. East was preceded in death by her husband, William East; two sons, Charlie East and David East; and two brothers, Irvin Goard and Albert Goard.
Mrs. East is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Melvin Nester of Meadows of Dan; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar Goard of Stuart and Bobby Goard of Patrick Springs; and five sisters, Pauline Epperly, Eva Foley, Lois Worley, Nannie Ruth Lawson and Elaine Hughes, all of Patrick Springs.
Funeral services for Mrs. East will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Margaret Nester, 1465 Free Union Road, Meadows of Dan.
