Mrs. Lenora Ellen Shaver Barrett

Mrs. Lenora Ellen Shaver Barrett, age 74, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Northern Hospital of Surry County, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Franklin County, Ohio on May 22, 1940 to the late Cecil Otis and Maude Juanita Stephenson Shaver. Mrs. Barrett was a graduate of The Ohio State University having earned her degree as a Certified Social Worker. She dedicated her career to the Child Protective Services, both in Ohio and Surry County, from where she retired. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 52 years, Robert Alva Barrett, of Mount Airy; four dedicated daughters, Jennifer and husband Steven Hodges, of Dobson, Megan and husband Mark Parker, also of Dobson, Marilyn and husband John Lambert, of Mount Airy and Esther Elizabeth Barrett, of the home; seven beloved grandchildren. Stefan, Rose, Morgan and Julia Hodges, Kathryne and Maggie Parker, and Gavin Lambert; a sister, Juanita Vornholt, of Tennessee, along with several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, an infant son, Jonathan Barrett preceded her in death. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until time to be carried to Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead, Ohio, and other times at the home of her daughter Jennifer 922 Rockford Rd. Dobson, NC. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Alum Creek Friends Meeting, Marengo, Ohio where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In-lieu-of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Lifespan-Dobson, in loving memory of Lenora Barrett, 623 Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017.
