Mrs. Lenora Simpson Frye

Mrs. Lenora Beatrice Simpson Frye, age 95 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, January 08, 2012 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center. Mrs. Frye was born in Hoke County on May 21, 1916 to Tyra McKinley and Roxie Badgett Simpson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church as well as a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Northern Hospital. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Ken Amburn of Greensboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lou Ann Frye of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Dean Amburn of London, UK; Nathan Amburn and wife Christie of Georgetown, TX; Donna McClure and husband David of Lawrenceville, GA; Scot Frye also of Lawrenceville; Blake Frye and wife Kim of Kennesaw, GA; ten great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal Watson of Mt. Airy; Faye and Moir Atkins of Ararat; Anne and Bill Nifong of Winston-Salem; and a sister-in-law, Hester Simpson of Ararat. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her husband, Edison C. Frye; a sister, Ina Scott and brothers, Claude Simpson and Carl Simpson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Alex Martin. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church at 314 S. Franklin Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Ridgecrest Retirement Center, Mountain Valley Hospice and to Dr. Catalin Burciu for the love, compassion and care given to Mrs. Frye.
