Mrs. Lettie Mae Fleming Reece

Mrs. Lettie Mae Fleming Reece age 96 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Reece was born in Surry County, January 30, 1915 to Fletcher and Cora Edwards Fleming. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and was a friend to all. She was a retired seamstress, a homemaker and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters, Anna Templeton of Greensboro; Rosilyn "Demi" Thompson of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Barbara Reece of Mt. Airy and Guy and Virginia Fleming of Rahway, NJ; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Louise Fleming, Asheville and a brother, Gene Fleming, Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Rudolph Reece, a sister, Irene Fleming, and six brothers, Will Fleming, Lonnie Fleming, Fred Fleming, Paul (Rookie) Fleming, Arthur Fleming and Johnny Fleming. A celebration of life will be held 3:30 pm Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Garland Hall. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23509. The family would like to express a "special thanks" to Betty Stevens and Deborah Joyce and the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their professionalism and compassionate care extended to Mrs. Reece during her illness.
