Mrs. Lila M. Cruise

Mrs. Lila M. Cruise, age 95 formerly of Meadows of Dan passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Floyd County to the late Dexter Tolbert and Edna Moles Tolbert Sutphin. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Towe; her second husband, Ike Cruise; five sisters, Custis Clifton, Mary Sowers, Eva Sowers, Hava Hill, Ruby West; and three brothers, Freel Sutphin, Edward Sutphin, and Garvin Sutphin. Mrs. Cruise had worked as a cook at Mabry's Mill.
Surviving are a sister, Frances Thompson; two brothers, Wendell Sutphin, Brown Sutphin all of Willis, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy, NC with Pastor Gary Combs officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
