Mrs. Lillian Iowa Easter Gates Christian

Mrs. Lillian Iowa Easter Gates Christian, 92 of Mt. Airy passed away at Golden Living Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Mrs. Christian was born in Carroll County VA on February 28, 1919 to the late Henry Washington and Minnie Lee Tolbert Easter. She retired from Proctor-Silex and was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church . She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Emily Verlea and Lawrence Easter of Cana; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Alvin and Janice Gates of Butner, NC, Elder Lacy and Catherine Gates and Charles Gates all of Cana; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by her first husband, Clisba Gates; her second husband, Hassell Christian; a grandson, Jerry Easter; four sisters and two brothers. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at Skyline Memory Gardens conducted by Rev. Alvin Gates and Elder Lacy Gates. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home.
