Mrs. Lillian Frances Mabe McAtee, 88, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Merritt Street, Mount Airy went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, July 26, 2012, at Oak Forest Health and Rehab Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. McAtee was born May 19, 1924, in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late William Henry "Bud" and Cora Elizabeth Roberts Mabe. She retired from Spencer's Inc. after 45 years of service and was a member of Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church in Claudville, VA. She is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws, Irene and Barry Henline of Statesville, Diann McAtee Blake of Kernersville, and Judy and Bill Nixon of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Andrew and Christina Blake of Greensboro, Matthew Glenn and Kristina Blake of Kernersville, William Clay Nixon, III and Melody Nixon of King, and Jennifer and David Newsome of Pfafftown; eight great-grandchildren, Danielle and Rebecca Blake, Mikayla Nixon, Wesley and Aleah Newsome, Elijah, George and Ivy Blake, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McAtee was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Grady McAtee; three sisters, Elsie Mabe Childress, Hattie Mae Mabe Bennett and Cora Lee Mabe Felts; and a brother, James Walter Mabe. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Mr. Harvey Arrington and Rev. Charles Zimmerman officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family will be receiving friends following the graveside service and at other times at the home of Mrs. McAtee's Daughter, Judy Nixon, 4632 Tim Road, Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Moody Funeral Service of Mt. Airy is assisting the McAtee family.
