Mrs. Lillian Jones Vernon

Mrs. Lillian Jones Vernon age 86, widow of Mr. Marlie Vernon went to with the Lord Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born November 23, 1924 in Carroll County to the late Robert T. and Molly Smith Jones. She attended Rocky Ford Christian Church. Mrs. Vernon was retired from Renfro Corporation and was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-laws, Linda Bowman and Bruce Reavis of Mt. Airy, Phyllis Gibson and Donald of King, Evelyn Southern and Tim of Pinnacle, a son Danny Vernon and Darlene of Cana, VA, nine grandchildren, Stephen Bowman of Charlotte, Michael and Carla Bowman of Harrisburg, Joel Bowman of Winston-Salem, Crystal Simmons of Pfafftown, Chad Vernon of Charlotte, Andrea and Mark Osbourne of Independence, VA, Justin Vernon of Clemmons, Steven Atkins and Shane Atkins both of Pinnacle, four great grandchildren, Brandon Bowman, Isaiah, Elijah and Bethany Osbourne, and a brother, Robert "Ted" Jones, Cana, VA . In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Gammons and Nora Easter and a brother, Jack Jones. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Rocky Ford Christian Church conducted by - Rev. Larry Jones, Bro. Ken Aman and Rev. Billy Moore. Burial will follow in the Epworth United Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
