Mrs. Lillie "Laura" Nowlin

Mrs. Lillie "Laura" Penn Nowlin, age 89 of Patrick Springs passed away Saturday at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born on March 28, 1921 in Patrick County to the late Vallie and Maybelle Cobb Penn. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Nowlin; one daughter, Penny O'Neal; one son, Rev. James "Dobbie" Nowlin; three sisters, Georgia Hairston, Lucy Hylton, Nannie Reynolds; two brothers, Sammie Will and Johnie Penn. Mrs. Nowlin was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist for over 70 years.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter in law, Douglas and Barbara Nowlin of Stuart, Leroy Nowlin of Patrick Springs; five daughters and sons in law, Stella and James Hairston of Eden, NC, Linda and Willie Clark of Martinsville, Janice Nowlin of Patrick Springs, Sandra Nowlin of Stuart, Ann and David Watlington of Belews Creek, NC; 32 Grand and Great Grandchildren; and two sisters, Magalene Penn of Stuart, and Elizabeth Hagwood of Critz.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Minister Derrick Nowlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Nowlin Family Cemetery.
