Mrs. Lillie Odean Foley "Granny" Thomas

Mrs. Lillie Odean Foley "Granny" Thomas, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on February 2, 1923 to the late James Frank "Boss" Foley and Vada Sawyers Foley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Sparks Leonard Thomas, Sr., and three brothers. She was a faithful member of Fairystone Baptist Church, and had been a charter member of the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, with perfect attendance for 25 years. She had been a maid for Dr. Shockley for several years.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Sparks Leonard, Jr. and Donna Thomas of Stuart; one daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Thomas Bevins and Johnny Bevins of Stuart; four grandchildren, Darren Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Jody Bevins and Jason Bevins; five sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service for Mrs. Thomas will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Foley Cemetery with Rev. Jim Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Sparks Leonard Thomas, Jr., 64 Vada Loop, Stuart. If desired, memorials may be made to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
