Mrs. Linda Bell Surratt Harris, 90 of Woolwine, passed away Friday at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born in Carroll County September 29, 1919 to the late Oscar and Bessie Stilwell Surratt. She had been of Primitive Baptist Faith since 1946 and a member of Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church for 46 years. She worked at United Elastic for 15 years and retired from Woolwine Elementary as a cafeteria worker. Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by her husband; Elder Oscar Harris, a grandson; Tracy Harris, two sisters; Clarice White and Mary Evelyn White and two brothers; Thomas and Harry Surratt.
Surviving Mrs. Harris is a daughter; Linda Hatcher and husband Bert of Manassas, VA, four sons; Miles Harris and wife Shelby of Stuart, VA, Leon Harris and wife Beverly of Roanoke, VA, James Dale Harris of Woolwine, VA, Mavin Harris and wife Crystal of Woolwine, VA, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, a sister-in-law; Gladys Surratt of Roanoke,VA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Kamoda and Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 till 8 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart and other times at the home on Elamsville.
