Mrs. Lisa Kay White Johnson, age 39, of Dobson passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday October 11, 2017. She was born in Surry County on December 25, 1977 to the late Ivan and Brenda Jarrell White. A loving and devoted wife and mother, Lisa was an amazing cook who delighted the staff of Central Middle School and Surry Central High School with her pound cakes and homemade desserts. She enjoyed attending her children’s’ ballgames, wrestling matches, chorus concerts, and dance competitions, helping wherever she was needed. With a love for music, she taught her children to share this love by teaching them to sing and memorize songs from a very young age. It was rare to find a song she didn’t know the words to. She was a substitute teacher for several years at Surry Central High School where she enjoyed both working with the students as well as the staff. She had also worked as an office assistant at Double E Farms with her husband. Her favorite job there was showing visitors around and helping her children with the care of their farm animals. Lisa had a special love for animals who had lost their homes or been mistreated, often providing them with a place on the farm or in her own home She gave her time and support to helping with the Northwest, Jr. Livestock Show for many years. With a deep desire for helping others, she was blessed to be able to care for her mother during her long battle with cancer until her death in 2013. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 19 years, Tracy Johnson; two children, Clara Johnson and Thomas Johnson; a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Michelle Cook White; several special nieces, nephews aunts, uncles and friends; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Ellen Johnson; sister-in-law, Shera and husband Rodney Holder; brother-in-law, Trevor and wife Sherry Johnson. In addition to her parents, her grandparents, whom she loved dearly, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Salem Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Lee Johnson, Pastor Sean Joplin and Rev. Jonathan Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.
