Mrs. Loeva Handy Mills

Mrs. Loeva Handy Mills, age 88 of Lawsonville, North Carolina passed away on Saturday December 3, 2016 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. She was born in Martinsville, Virginia on November 4, 1928 to the late Elija Zebedee Handy and Flora Lane Handy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Marvin Mills; her beloved son, Jerry Mills, Sr.; two brothers, Mount Dean Handy and Elwood Handy; and a sister, Madeline Handy. She was a member of Peter’s Creek Baptist Church. Loeva was loved by many and nurtured everyone she met. She was the cornerstone of her family and will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Mills is survived by four grandchildren, Bobbi Ploof and husband, Jason of Huntington Beach, CA, Jerry Mills, Jr. and wife, Christina of Fullerton, CA, Jennifer Newmark and husband, Brian of Fullerton, CA and Loeva Virginia Cowdrey and husband, Chad of Lawsonville, NC; eight great grandchildren, Soular, Reece, Aris, Cirrus, Jerry, III., Teagan, Logan, and Shepherd; a great-niece, Celeste Handy; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
A memorial service for Mrs. Mills will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. Box 1301, Stuart, VA 24171.
