Mrs. Lois Virginia McKinney Phillips

Mrs. Lois Virginia McKinney Phillips, 84 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday at Golden Living in Mt. Airy. She was born October 16, 1931 in Carroll County, VA to the late Grover Thomas and Mabel Carlan McKinney. Mrs. Phillips retired from Spencer’s and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie McKinney, Robert and JoAnn McKinney, Don and Bonnie McKinney, Wanda McKinney, and Betty McKinney all of Mt. Airy; Charles and Jenny McKinney of Bedford, TX; a special niece, Theresa Yarborough and a special nephew, Taron McKinney. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Vestal Norris Phillips; and two brothers, Grover Morton McKinney and Merle McKinney. A graveside service will be held Sunday April 24, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Alex Martin officiating. There will be no formal visitation. The family would like to give a special thank you to Tina and Lisa who works with Mountain Valley Hospice and to the staff of Golden Living. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 S. Franklin Rd. Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite, 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Phillips Family.
