Mrs. Lola Ann Mayes Johnson

Mrs. Lola Ann Mayes Johnson, 84, of Cana, VA, passed away Monday morning, October 23, 2017, at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Johnson was born May 24, 1933, in Hoke County, the daughter of the late Lacy Jacob and Novella Stanley Mayes. Lola retired from Renfro Corporation after many years of service and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, VA. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Willie Hill of Cana, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Janet Johnson, and Greg and Kathy Johnson, all of Cana, VA, and Richard and Debbie Johnson of Lambsburg, VA; her grandchildren, Julie and Danny Carpenter of Statesville, NC, Gina and Jeff Kimble of Concord, NC, Hayley Hill, and Bethany Hill and Cortney Schaepler, all of Cana, VA, Earl and Marie Johnson of Johnson City, TN, Seth Peery of Blacksburg, VA, Richard Johnson and Tyler Wilmoth of Mars Hill, NC, and Corwin Johnson of Cana, VA; her great-grandchildren, Ada, Evie, and Stephen Peery, and Danielle Carpenter; two sisters, Hazel Woods of Cana, VA and Jeanette Easter, of Mount Airy, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Johnson; a granddaughter, Laura Johnson Peery; a sister, Carrie “Sis” Easter and four brothers, Frank, Thad, Bud, and Leo Mayes. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 2:00PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Cana, VA with the Rev. Buster Sechrist, Rev. Billy Moore, and Dr. Wyatt Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
