Mrs. Lorene Hylton Belcher, age 74 of Woolwine, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on January 10, 1936 to the late Benjamin and Martha J Boyd Hylton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Belcher was preceded in death by six brothers, Arthur, Elzie, Homer, Herman, Fred and Harvey Hylton; one sister, Beadie Hylton Belcher; two half-brothers, Olie and Roy Hylton; three nephews and one niece. She was a longtime member of Smith River Church of the Brethren, sang in the church choir, and was retired as a bus driver with the Patrick County School System.
Mrs. Belcher is survived by her husband, Leonard Belcher of the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart; two sisters, Liddy Boothe of Stuart and Lony Hall of Woolwine; 13 nieces and 16 nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Belcher will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Dewayne Troutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
