Mrs. Lorene Nelson Bryant

Mrs. Lorene Nelson Bryant, age 82 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on December 28, 1925 to the late Walter G. and Betty Florence Hill Nelson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Bryant; one sister, Mary Emma Tucker; and two brothers, George Thomas "Dick" Nelson and Walter Holmes Nelson. She was a longtime member of Nettle Ridge United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Ministry.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ronnie Haley of Stuart; two grandchildren, Bryan Williams and Chris Haley, both of Blacksburg; a special niece, Dee Wood Kivett of Greenville, South Carolina; two sisters, Sue N. Amos of Critz and Nancy N. Wood of Stuart; and one brother, Billy Hill Nelson of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bryant will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Nettle Ridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
