Mrs. Loretta Margaret Vering Smith

Mrs. Loretta Margaret Vering Smith age 87 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday morning, November 26, 2015 at Northern Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born May 31, 1928 in Marysville, Kansas to the late Awton and Mary Margaret Vering. Mrs. Smith was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Smith Osborne and son-in-law, John Osborne of Twin Bridges, MT; son, Stephen Edward Smith and friend, Cindy Tate, Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Amber Williams and husband Jonathan Williams of Marshville, NC, Theodore Smith of Mt. Airy, NC, Stephen Smith of Wilmington, NC and Jason Smith of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Kathlene Collross, and Cynthia Shupert; and a brother Frances Vering. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Smith; and a brother, Fernand Vering. Services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 12 noon Friday December 4, 2015 at Holy Angels Catholic Church conducted by Father Larry Heiney. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at Holy Angels Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Angels Catholic Church Building Fund, 1208 North Main Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
