Mrs. Lorna Evelyn Belcher

Mrs. Lorna Evelyn Belcher, age 87 of Woolwine, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on December 16, 1922 to the late Samuel Edgar and Ola V. Pendleton Belcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Belcher was preceded in death by her husband, Archie O. Belcher; two daughters, Joyce Phillips and Carolyn Stowe; two sisters, Vergie Whorley and Alma Hylton; and one brother, Delmer Belcher. She was a member of Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years, and had worked for J.P. Stevens.
Mrs. Belcher is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Fern and Edward Soyars of Stuart; three grandchildren, Rebecca “Becky” Conner, Ronnie Harbour and Brian Phillips; one step-granddaughter, Rhonda Hammond; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Williams, April Wright and Alan Harbour; two great-great-grandchildren, Mason Wright and MacKenzie Williams; and two sons-in-law, Cleston Phillps and Ronald Stowe, both of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mrs. Belcher will be held Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Kamoda and Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
