Mrs. Lottie Ruth Epperson Beasley

Mrs. Lottie Ruth Epperson Beasley, 98, of Stuart died Saturday, March 9, 2013. She was born on Nov. 23, 1914 in Ararat to the late Robert H. "Bob" Epperson and Phoebe Gates Epperson. She was married to Thomas Brack Beasley, Sr. on June 18, 1938 who preceded in her in death on Jan. 3, 1983.
Mrs. Beasley was a member of Unity Church in Ararat, having accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 12. In 1994, she was baptized in the Jordan River in Israel. For many years she had attended Stuart United Methodist Church where she was a substitute teacher and pianist for her Sunday School Class.
She was a graduate of Blue Ridge Academy, later known as Blue Ridge High School, and graduated with a B.S. degree from Radford University. She taught school in Patrick County for 23 years, was an artist (she donated the picture to Unity Church), a world traveler, and member of the Patrick County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; Grace Epperson Pedigo, Gladys Epperson Smith, Mildred Epperson Ayers, Margie Epperson George; two brothers, Robert Hennis Epperson, Alvis Glenn Epperson; and a son in law, Archie Vipperman.
She is survived by four children; Anne Beasley Vipperman of Martinsville, Thomas Brack Beasley, Jr. and wife, Carol, Penny Beasley Runge and husband, Jay, Roger Lee Beasley and wife, Sherry, all of Stuart; eight grandchildren, Analisa O'Toole of Martinsville, Joe Vipperman of Greensboro, NC, Thomas Brack Beasley III of Lexington, NC, Beverly Beasley Miller and husband, Tim of Frankfurt, Germany, Dr. Dajen Runge Williams and husband, Erik, Kristen Runge Sawyer and husband, Casey both of Huntersville, NC, Beau Beasley of Stuart, Worth Beasley of Hickory, NC; four great grandchildren, Caroline O'Toole, Nora Beasley, Hudson Williams, Kellan Sawyer; and one sister, Mary Epperson Beasley Anderson of Mt. Airy, NC.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Unity Church with Revs. Buford Jessup and Tommy Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
