Mrs. Lou Nell Kallam Hardy age 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 4, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. Lou Nell was born on October 25, 1932 in Surry County, one of eight children to the late William Allen Kallam and Lillian Simpson Kallam. Lou Nell was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charlie Wayne Hardy of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Lynn Sumner and husband Jimmy, of Mount Airy; one granddaughter, Shannon Leigh Francis and her husband Josh of Francisco; and a great-granddaughter, Laura Madilynn Francis; two sisters, Wanda Benbow and husband Bill of Lewisville, Judy Gray and husband Tim of Fort Mill, SC; three brothers, Steve Kallam and wife Norma of Mount Airy, Kenny Kallam of Mount Airy, Larry Kallam and Sharon of Elkin; one sister-in-law Virginia Kallam of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lou Nell was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Kallam and Randall Simpson Kallam. Funeral services will be held on Sunday February 7, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Jake Penley officiating with burial to follow in the White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
