Mrs. Lucille Vernon Folger

Mrs. Lucille Vernon Folger, 85, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born on February 13, 1928 in Stokes County, NC to the late Wallace H. Vernon and Alice Andrews Vernon. Mrs. Folger was a graduate of Appalachian State University and a beloved teacher in the Surry County School System. She was also a devoted member of Dobson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Folger will be remembered for her lighthearted spirit, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and Tarheel basketball. She is survived by her husband, Rom Folger of the home; daughter, Nan and Paul Jackson of Dobson; sons, Llew and Lois Folger and Ros and Cathy Folger of State Road; and three grandchildren, Rush Folger of State Road, Kathryn and Scott Hall of State Road, and Frank Jackson of Dobson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Angela V. Joyce. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dobson Town Cemetery with Rev. Harry Sammons officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dobson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 497, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Folger family.
